Scope

Complete upgrade / replacement of the P&C and SCADA systems for three substations for the City of Red Deer.

Highlights

Modernization of a 138kV to 25kV point of delivery substations.
IEC61850 introduced, first in North America with Parallel Redundancy Protocol.
Complete substation simulation during FAT – fully controllable mock-up including all breakers & MODs, automated bus transfer scheme and transformer LTC master follower scheme.

Challenges

Implementation of IEC61850 which was the first in North America.
